DETECTIVES hunting a suspected rapist who attacked a 24-year-old woman at knifepoint are due to make a national TV appeal for witnesses tonight.

Officers from Bromley Police's sapphire unit, which investigates allegations of rape and sexual assault, are due to appear on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme.

A CCTV camera captured the man suspected of grabbing the young woman in Westmoreland Road, Bromley.

He allegedly threatened the girl with a blade and forced her to walk into nearby Cameron Road, where he raped her, at about 2.30am, on Sunday, November 27. After the attack, the suspect ran off in the direction of Letchworth Drive.

He is described as black, between 32 and 35 and of average build. He was wearing a denim jacket, red top, dark-coloured bottoms and white trainers.

Det Con Jim Taylor said: “This was a particularly nasty attack. If you can help, call 020 8284 8774 or 8775, or, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
