A teenager was praised in front of millions of viewers for the work he does caring for his mum.
Daniel Read appeared on the Alan Titchmarsh Show last week with his sister Samantha after she emailed the show telling them all about her brother.
The 15-year-old cares for his mum Denise at their Sheerness home, as she is confined to a wheelchair due to a blood disease. He comes home from school and cooks the tea as well as doing the washing and cleaning, on top of studying at Minster College, Sheppey.
He is also a carer at school, looking after disabled children and was recently presented with a Princess Diana award for his caring work.
His sister, Samantha, 23, emailed the show to tell them all about the work her brother does and told them she thinks he deserves a treat.
The producers found out he wants to be a chef and so presented him with a chef’s hat from Jamie Oliver’s famous London restaurant 15.
He will also spend the day on Monday working in the restaurant with staff, learning the ropes from the best in the country.
The family, including dad Andrew, have then been invited to the restaurant for a meal next month.
He was interviewed by show host Alan Titchmarsh and sat alongside the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
Daniel said: “I was really scared being on TV, but Alan and the Duchess of York were so nice. I didn’t know my sister had emailed the show but I was glad she did and I can’t wait to visit Jamie Oliver’s restaurant. I’m hoping he’s going to be there.”
The staff at 15 were so impressed with Daniel, they have invited him back on a regular basis.
