Two badly hurt in country lane crash

TWO people are lucky to be alive after suffering multiple injuries when the car they were travelling in crashed in a country lane early today.

The man and his female passenger were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham on spinal boards after the car careered off a bend in the B2000 in Cliffe Woods near Rochester.

Medway fire fighters were called to the scene at about 2.40am following a report that people were trapped.

The driver of the blue Toyota was found unconscious after suffering serious head injuries. His passenger, who was found lying beside the car, sustained multiple injuries.

Both are now in the wards of the hospital but are no longer in a critical condition.
