Two men in their 60s have been arrested after a woman was shot as she fed her horse.
The Benenden woman, believed to be Louise Leggatt, has been given police protection around her hospital bed after being injured in the leg.
Two men, from Ashford and Tenterden, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have since been released on police bail.
The woman, 50, was feeding her horses in Cranbrook Road on March 15 when someone opened fire while hiding in a hedge.
She is now recovering in The Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
The shooting comes just two months after her home was attacked by arsonists.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "The safety of the victim is of the utmost importance and we have put significant measures in place to safeguard her welfare."
The men arrested, both 62, are believed to have known the victim.
The man from Tenterden has been bailed until May 31 and the man from Ashford until June 1.
