The truth is out there - we can reveal that UFOs spotted in the sky over Whitstable were in fact lanterns.
The glowing fireballs attracted dozens of onlookers who were left baffled by the sight and could offer no logical explanation.
Now wedding guests have come forward to help solve the mystery and say the lights were actually lanterns let off as part of the celebrations of Mike and Claire Seward’s marriage.
The couple held their reception at Whitstable Castle and then the Brewery Bar on the harbour, where the lanterns were released.
Bridesmaid Suzanne Phillips said they were amazed to read the reports from witnesses who feared they were watching some kind of UFO activity.
“The unidentified flying fireballs were actually lanterns let off from the beach,” she said.
“The article has given us all a giggle and Mike and Claire will be in stitches when they get back from honeymoon.”
But Scott King is still convinced the truth is out there somewhere.
He said: “I’m not usually a believer of all the UFO stuff that people chat about but there is a post appearing on sites around the world that scares me.
“Because of this I have been looking out for UFOs and your latest report really annoyed me. They were Chinese paper lanterns - I’ve seen them all the time around here.
“It’s just another piece of rubbish to throw people off believing that any sightings can ever be true.”
