A GROUP of musicians are getting behind the camera to speak out against the national issue of gun and knife crime.
Hip hop and RnB act Unique Entertainment has already used its love of music to try to stop youngsters turning to crime.
Spynel, Ice, The Gift, Barz and Slick have put together a documentary in which they perform their songs and speak to families from across the UK who have been victims of crime.
Spynel said: "The aim is hopefully to try to bring down the amount of knife and gun crime."
They believe young people across the country have come to respect gang culture more than they do the police and that there has been a breakdown in communication between teenagers and the authorities.
This is something they hope to turn around with their work.
Ice added: "We want to challenge the ideas about what people think they can achieve. We want to get people more motivated in their lives."
The band, all from the Northfleet area, first got together in the summer, having met through mutual friends.
Since then they have performed at a number of events across the South East, including the Urban Music Awards at the IndigO2.
While there, they were noticed by Intensify Youth, an organisation which provides programmes to encourage young people to avoid anti-social behaviour.
Once completed, the video the group has made, which is in the process of being edited, will be shown on the Intensify Youth website and on YouTube. They are crossing their fingers that it may also appear on ITV3.
Ice said: "It's about young people getting their head straight to make a difference to themselves and the community."
