Unprovoked road rage attack on pregnant woman

A PREGNANT woman was seriously injured in a road rage attack involving another woman driver.

Police are appealing for witnesses to what they are describing as an unprovoked attack, which happened at around 9pm on Wednesday, August 10 in Gravel Hill at the junction of Albion Road, Bexley.

The two cars, a grey metallic Nissan X-trail hatchback and a purple Ford Fiesta, were stopped at a BP Garage in Erith Road, Northumberland Heath, where a further altercation took place.

The driver and passenger in the Ford Fiesta got out of their vehicle to speak to the other driver.

The driver of the Nissan X-trail then drove the vehicle at one of the occupants, seriously injuring the pregnant woman.

She was taken to hospital where her condition was described as stable.

A 49-year-old woman was arrested, and is due to return to police bail on Friday pending further inquiries.

Det Con Esther Nodding, of Bexley Police, said: "This was an extremely dangerous and unprovoked attack on a heavily pregnant woman who was unable to defend herself."
