A PAIR of Valentine newly-weds were left devastated after a burglar made off with their wedding presents.

Wayne Hearsey, 20, and Samantha Bevan, 21, from Ramsgate were cutting the cake at Glenwood Hotel in Cliftonville on Valentine's Day when someone raided their honeymoon suite taking presents, cards, handbags, a camcorder, and even baby bottles for the couple’s four-month-old daughter Abby.

The groom’s father Graham Hearsey said: "It was a sour end to what was a brilliant day.

"It’s devastating for them. They’re not going to be able to get their day back. You just can’t believe someone can do something like this."

Fortunately the couple still had their passports and are now on honeymoon in Paris.

CCTV from the hotel is being reviewed and police are keen to hear from anyone who saw a young, white male with crew cut fair hair wearing a grey hoodie leaving the area just before midnight.

Police believe the burglar climbed through a window and one of the wedding guests said she saw a man on the roof just after 10.30pm.

Witnesses or anyone with information on this incident are asked to call Thanet Police on 01843 231055 or Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
