Kent commuters faced traffic gridlock this morning with eight-mile tailbacks on the A2.

A broken-down minibus on the London-bound carriageway at Falconwood, in south London, led to heavy delays.

Traffic heading into the capital came to a halt when the vehicle got stuck in the middle lane shortly after 7am.

By 7.30am, the jam snaked back as far as the M25 turn-off at Dartford.
