POLICE in Thanet are investigating a mini-crime spree in Cliffsend, near Ramsgate. Several cars were damaged in a series of attacks in the west of the village.

A woman living in Nicholas Drive found her white Vauxhall Nova had been pushed off her drive and was blocking the road, seven yards away. The lock and handle on the driver’s door had been stolen, and will cost £75 to replace.

In nearby Cliffsend Grove, the owner of a Peugeot 106 found both front door locks and the steering system damaged, causing £200 worth of damage. Also in Cliffsend Grove, the owner of a Rover metro found the door to the car slightly open and the ignition damaged. The repairs will cost £50.

In Sandwich Road, two windows were broken on a Renault 9, costing £100 to repair, and a hole was cut in the wooden door of a garage of a nearby house, causing another £100 worth of damage.

A police spokeswoman said:” We are linking all of these incidents. Collectively, they add up to quite a lot of money, and have caused a lot of inconvenience. We would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.”
