THE pavilion in a Kent village will be demolished because of continued vandalism.
The structure stands at the play park on Jefferstone Lane, St Mary’s Bay, on the Romney Marsh, but the parish council has decided to demolish it.
The concrete building was constructed in the 1970s by local residents, who still live in the village.
Cllr Graham Allison, chair of St Mary in the Marsh Parish Council, which covers St Mary's Bay, said: "It has been a problem for several years and we had to have it boarded up.
"The vandals even got through the boarding and smashed light fittings, there is a hole in the roof, and during the summer holidays it got worse.
"We can't leave it up because it's a health and safety hazard."
The pavilion contains showers and changing rooms, a foyer and a kitchen for teams who use the field and there are no alternative facilities in the area.
