Victim of death crash is named

KENT Police have identified a teenager who was killed when a car in which he was travelling was in collision with a van on the A229 near Hawkhurst on Wednesday last week.

He was Vitumbiko Kalanga, aged 16, from Pondfield Close, Sandhurst, near Hawkhurst.

He was in a green Peugeot 205 car which collided with a Transit van travelling in the opposite direction.

A post-mortem showed the cause of death as severe multiple injuries. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Firefighters called to the scene, close to the Great House pubblic house, cut the trapped van driver free. Three others in the car and the van driver were taken to hospital.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01622 798538.
