Victim slashed with knife in robbery bid

A 20-year-old man was slashed in the arms and stomach with a knife in an attempted robbery.

The victim has told police he was walking along an alleyway in Lunsford Lane, Larkfield, near Maidstone, when two men standing by a lamppost asked him to hand over jewellery he was wearing.

When the man refused it is alleged that he was knifed a number of times. At this point it is believed that a man walking his dog came past and shouted at the offenders who were then said to have made off into woodland in the Baywell area.

The incident occurred at around 1.30pm on Tuesday, July 25. Both men are described as white and approximately 24 to 25 years old. The man with the knife is described as being about 5ft 9in tall with a stocky build and wearing a black short sleeved t-shirt, white three-quarter length Adidas trousers and a white hat with a motif on the front.

The weapon is described as a three-inch lock knife with a wood handle and brass trim.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly the man who was walking his dog at the time and may have seen the incident take place.

Anyone with any further information is asked to call Maidstone Police Station on 01622 604271 or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
