Video: Firefighters tackle the
blaze. Footage courtesy Richard and Susan Miles
by Keyan Milanian
Between 40 and 50 firefighters were needed to tackle a blaze
that gutted a house in Chatham in the early hours of Thursday
morning.
Six
fire engines were called to the two-storey mid-terrace house in
Otway Street.
Neighbours heard people shouting "fire, get out" as the flames
ripped through the property.
Two of them - Richard and Susan Miles - sent the footage above
to us.
One pump was still at the scene on Thursday morning -
although the fire was out by 2.30am.
Gas engineers cut the supply to the house and a police van
was at the scene.
A 22-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of
arson.
