See George Osborne's
visit to Medway
Shadow Chancellor George Osborne turned up at
a Kent electricity generator firm today - hoping to
spark his party's election campaign into life.
The Tory big gun was in Medway to tour the MEMS Power
Generation storage depot in Beechings Way,
Gillingham.
Rehman Chishti, the Tory candidate for Gillingham and Rainham,
was also there to accompany him.
The seat is being targeted by both Labour and the Conservatives
as it is one of the most marginal in the country.
While at MEMS Mr Osborne met electrical engineer Danny
George, of Beechings Way.
The 32-year-old, who has worked for MEMS for seven years, said:
"This hasn't been the usual day at work.
"I spoke to him about what the work I'm doing. He seems like a
nice guy."
Mr Osborne also met with representatives from 14 businesses from
across Medway's Five Towns.
He then went to Rochester High Street to meet shop owners and
members of the public.
