POLICE are trying to piece together events after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted in the middle of the day in the county.
The victim suffered concussion and was treated in hospital for injuries to his face, but he could not remember exactly what happened.
Police believe he was walking on the path above the River Medway on Chariot Way, Strood, when two or three young men shouted at him as they drove past in a red Ford Escort.
The car stopped and one of the men got out and followed the victim onto the path by the river before shouting more abuse, pushing him and punching him in the face.
According to a witness who was fishing nearby, the boy was asking why he was being punched, before his attacker went back up the steps to Chariot Way and got into the red Ford.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the victim, who was dressed in all black, before or in a confused state after he was attacked. Anyone with information about the car is also asked to contact police.
The attack took place between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday, July 26.
