Virtual pets, and a few real ones, starred in a pet show at Hernhill village hall on Saturday.
Youngsters brought animals they had made out of fruit, vegetables, papier mache and feathers, along with real tortoises, guinea pigs, budgies and hamsters.
The event was organised by the newly-amalgamated Boughton under Blean and Dunkirk Primary School, and the Parent Teachers’ Association raised around £200 towards the school’s extension and refurbishment.
Caroline Deeprose of the PTA said: “We’ve been doing this for seven years and the children enjoy it, it was good fun.
“We told them they could bring small pets, not dogs, cats or ponies.”
The school will have its official launch and summer fair on Saturday, July 5.
