Volkswagen has announced pricing and specification details ahead of the launch of its updated Polo. The first deliveries of the cosmetically and mechanically enhanced supermini are expected in July, with the entry-level model priced from £11,100. The flagship BlueGT model will run to £19,715.
Buyers can choose from a range of new EU6-compliant engines offering fuel efficiency improvements of up to 23% over the old units. Three and four-cylinder petrol motors are available, alongside new three-cylinder diesel units.
As well as electronic stability control, all new Polos come with Hill Hold and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which brakes the vehicle after a collision, minimising the chance a second impact. New optional safety features include a Driver Alert System and adaptive cruise control plus a low speed auto braking function.
On the entertainment front, Volkswagen’s latest touchscreen infotainment system is being introduced across the Polo range. Furthermore, all models come with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, while a sat-nav function is optional on selected models.
A new eco-centric Polo BlueMotion TSI – the first petrol BlueMotion model in Volkswagen’s line-up – will be available towards the end of 2014, along with the new GTI variant, which will be offered with a choice of either manual or dual clutch DSG gearbox.
