The North Kent Walking Festival takes place from June 1 to 30.
Now that spring has arrived, it’s a great time to shake off the cobwebs and get outdoors to enjoy some fresh air and the views of the local countryside.
The festival is a great way to find new places to explore, learn more about the local area, and meet new people.
There is a wide range of different walks to choose from – including guided tours around the parks in Medway, Historic Rochester walks, a Cliffe Industrial Heritage walk, and an introduction to the wildlife found in local countryside and towns.
There’s even a buggy walk in Twydall especially for parents with young children and pub walks around Capstone to provide extra motivation to keep walking.
Some of the walks will have breaks for snacks and drinks, or a stop to buy some food and drink in a local café or pub. Several walks give the chance for you to enjoy a drink or meal at the end of the ramble.
All walks are free. They are guided by a leader from one of the local organisations running the festival.
Places need to be booked in advance, as spaces on many walks are limited. Do not turn up on the day unless you have pre-booked, as you may be turned away. Booking will close 24 hours before the event.
