SeaART2008 takes place from August 9-31 at the Old Town Gallery, Margate and other Thanet venues.
It will provide a showcase for artists in north east Kent who have been inspired by the sea or coast and is being co-ordinated by Thanet Coast Project.
New exhibits of contemporary visual art are welcome, including sculpture, installations and photographs.
The contemporary shows will focus on the Old Town Gallery with others at the Look Out Gallery, Broadstairs Harbour, the IOTA Gallery on Margate Harbour Arm, Margate’s Tudor House and Ramsgate’s Visitor Information Centre according to the need for space.
Exhibiting is free although artists are asked to give some time to help with invigilation.
It is the fifth such exhibition to promote the work of local artists and linked to Marine Week, a celebration of our seas and wildlife by the Wildlife Trusts and partner organisations.
Activities will inculde Viking Visions drop-in workshop sessions with Anne Carrington at Tudor House on August 20 and 21 and Margate Adult Education Centre.
There will be art projects on Thanet’s beaches including the Children Beach Play scheme for children under 16.
