Al Capone is still on the run.

Despite an appeal by police, the 1920s gangster has not been found since he went missing from a garden in Kent in early December, in a story remniscent of the early 1900s when he was America's most wanted man.

Unlike the original and notorious criminal, who engineered illegal booze rackets during the US prohibition of alcohol, this Capone is a victim of crime.

The full-size fibre glass replica was stolen from his home on The Leas, Minster sometime between December 1 and December 10.

Owner Pauline McCook discovered the statue was missing when she went outside to decorate him with tinsel.

At the time she said: "I have loved the statue since I first set eyes upon it four years ago. He is part of our family and he cheers up everyone who sees him dressed up in his different outfits throughout the year. Christmas and future family events will not be the same without him."

According to police the item was extremely heavy and would have needed more than one person to remove it from the garden.
