Warning after alleyway mugger strikes again

Police believe one man may be responsible for a string of thefts from women in alleyways in a Kent town. People are being urged to be on their guard following the latest attack which left a woman with a broken arm.

The 62-year-old was walking down a cut-through between Helvellyn Avenue and Manston Road, Ramsgate, on Friday, March 14, when a man demanded her valuables. The thief made off with £30, bank cards and a cheque book.

Officers believe the attack is linked to two other daytime incidents in the town.

On Friday, January 25, a 35-year-old woman was punched by a man who stole her handbag in an alleyway off Newington Road. And a 73-year-old woman needed hospital treatment following an attack in a thoroughfare running parallel to Grove Road and North Avenue on Monday, March 3.

No witnesses have yet come forward.
