NOT many couples plan to spend their wedding night in a Second World War Anderson shelter. But 1940s enthusiasts Nick Crowhurst and Carena Loughlin, from Paddock Wood, expected to do just that after they married at the KM War and Peace show on Saturday.
The couple met at the show when they working as marshals and got engaged at last year's Herb Miller Spectacular, Under pressure from friends and family they agreed to a ceremony at this year's show.
The wedding party arrived in a convoy of military vehicles with the staff car reserved, appropriately, for Carena. Nick waited in the chief petty officer's uniform that his father wore in the Fleet Air Arm, to be joined later by his bride in a reproduction forties dress.
All of their guests made a huge effort as well, opting for uniforms including those of the Women's Land Army and immaculate US Navy whites. A Winston Churchill lookalike, complete with chunky cigar, flashed his V for Victory salute.
Unfortunately, rain flooded the Anderson shelter in the grounds of the Hop Farm and they had to spend their wedding night in a caravan.
