Andy Hessenthaler admitted Saturday's goalless draw was 'one to forget.'

The Gillingham manager saw his side held by a lowly Bradford team who he felt got exactly what they wanted.

"We didn't get going at all," said Hessenthaler (pictured). "I don't think we earned the right to play because they started far better than us. We only had a 10-15 minute spell in the first half where we started getting in behind them down the right hand side.

"There were too many players off their game and four or five who just didn't turn up.

"It was one to forget but I can't be too critical of the boys because we have been on a decent run, and we have played some decent stuff, but we just didn't get going."

It was Gillingham's first goalless draw of the season and despite failing to cause enough problems in attack he was pleased with the team defensively.

"Defensively we were magnificent," he said. "They are a handful and a big side and the conditions weren't good. It was never going to be easy.

"Neither team played football. We want to get the ball down and play but we didn't at all and that was frustrating from our point of view.

"The ball went out of play and they took three days to take the throw-in or a corner or a free-kick. They did what I thought they would do, which was frustrate us. They did that and frustrated the crowd, and they left with what they started out to get which was a point."

It was Gillingham's highest attendance of the season as fans took advantage of the reduced admission charges on offer.

"We are disappointed in the performance because we know we are better than that. It was a shame for the fans because there were a lot of them out there."

A case of a point saved or two points dropped for the Gills?
