The heroes who pushed a car off a level crossing seconds before a train swept through have come forward after reading our appeal on kentishgazette.co.uk
Builder Chris Hoare and his friend Roger Chandler came across the stationary car which was half on the crossing at Grove Ferry.
Behind the wheel was 23-year-old cardiographer Leah O’Connor who had suffered a seizure and was unconcious.
Chris, 33, who lives in Hoath, and Roger, 63, of Sutton Road, Hersden, pushed the car off the track – seconds before the barrier came down and a train went through.
They came forward after reading our story of the incident and the appeal for them to get in touch.
Chris, a father-of-two, said: “We are just glad we arrived at the scene when we did because I am not sure a woman driver would have been able to get the car off the tracks in time.”
Leah, who was on her way to work at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, said: “I shudder to think what would have happened if those two guys hadn’t arrived at the scene in the nick of time and I can’t thank them enough for what they did.”
