Strong winds grounded planes due to fly for a Battle of Britain annual memorial day.
A Hurricane and Spitfire were to roar over the clifftops at Capel and the event on Sunday was to end with a short flying display.
But Geoff Simpson, of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, said: “There are strict safety regulations and it was decided it was too windy to fly.”
The village’s memorial day was to mark the start of the Battle of Britain exactly 68 years ago on Thursday.
The rest of the programme continued, with a parade and remembrance service and the attendance of the guest of honour, Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy, Chief of the Air Staff.
