A weather warning for wind has been issued for Kent on New Year's Day.
The Met Office’s yellow alert runs from 12.15am until 3pm on Wednesday.
It covers the entire county, as well as the rest of England and parts of Scotland.
Experts are warning "very strong winds" of up to 75mph are on the cards.
Disruption is therefore expected in the form of transport delays and cancellations of road, rail, air and ferry services.
This is alongside some roads and bridges being forced to close.
People are also being warned to expect potential power cuts and mobile phone coverage being disrupted.
The Met Office says: "A deep area of low pressure is expected to cross the UK from the west, bringing a spell of very strong winds.
"Gusts of 65-75 mph are likely around coasts and hills, especially in the south and west, with 50-60 mph gusts likely fairly widely inland."
Injuries and danger to life are said to be a possibility due to large waves and beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties.
