Rochester Castle will be lighting up Medway next weekend and you could be playing a starring role.
On Saturday, September 27 Medway will be celebrating the official launch of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad with the first showing of a specially-commissioned film.
The film, entitled Welcome To Medway, was shot throughout the summer and features thousands of residents of all ages, from indivduals to club members to mass participation events such as Race For Life, the Dickens Festival, Mini Youth Games, Fuse Festival and the Medway Mile.
Now the film will be given a giant open air screening when it is projected on to the side of the castle.
Medway 2012 Manager Bob Dimond said: “We wanted to celebrate the start of the Cultural Olympiad by inviting all Medway residents to come to the Castle Gardens to see the film, which vividly captures the enthusiasm of the community for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the warm welcome we can offer visitors to Medway.”
The film has been produced by local film-make Gary Weston and will be used to promote Medway nationally and internationally as both a first-class tourist destination and a sporting centre of excellence.
The evening starts at 7pm with music from Hold Tight. The film will be shown at 8pm and will be followed by a fireworks display.
The event is free.
