Gillingham head to Chesterfield in their final League 2 game of the season knowing they need to better the result of either Torquay or Stevenage.
The the pair sit above Gillingham on goal difference, and just two of the three will make it into the final play-off positions. Chesterfield, however, sit top and need a point themselves to clinch the title.
Gills manager Andy Hessenthaler said: "The players shouldn’t need any motivating for the weekend.
"We need to roll our sleeves up and give everything for the football club. If that turns out not to be enough, then we will be disappointed but we have had a good second half to the season.
"I don’t fear Chesterfield. They need a point to be champions and a point might be enough for us but we certainly won’t be going there thinking about that.
"We have to put a performance on. Hopefully that will give us a win or it might give us a point, which might be enough."
Gillingham will be travelling today (Friday) and are due to train in Nottingham.
They will be without injured captain Barry Fuller (leg) while winger Andy Barcham (hamstring) is also set to miss out.
Josh Gowling (ankle), Stefan Payne (knee) and Chris Palmer (knee) are doubts but Curtis Weston will return to the squad after resuming full training.
