Former Welling striker Charlie Sheringham scored two goals on his first return to Park View Road since quitting the club in the summer.
Sheringham's first-half brace sent a clueless Welling side spiralling to defeat in Blue Square South.
The striker left Welling in the close season after turning down a new contract but the Wings are still yet to receive a penny with the FA dragging their heels over a tribunal date.
Welling's anger at that was only matched by the incompetence of the officials, who were the worst to have graced Park View Road in many a season.
At times laughable, they were subjected to the full anger of the home crowd after a number of bizarre decisions.
The first came in the 24th minute when a handball on the edge of the Stortford penalty area went unpunished and the visitors broke away for Sheringham to score from the rebound after Wings keeper Charlie Mitten's smart save.
Mitten came to Welling's rescue on more than one occasion in the first half, but he was beaten in stoppage time when Sheringham, having looked offside, curled home his second goal after cutting inside Graeme Andrews.
Welling lacked ideas in attack, passion in midfield and cohesion in defence. Not surprisingly, both full-backs were replaced at half-time and boss Andy Ford must have wished he could have made half a dozen substitutions.
It took Welling 80 minutes to register an effort on goal - their only one of the afternoon - but Steve King's header was easily saved.
King should have pulled one back in stoppage time but headed wide when well placed while Tom Whitnell failed to get his shot away.
By this stage, referee Adrian Quelch had booked six players - three for kicking the ball away, and Parkinson for a tackle that someone else made.
The end could not come quick enough for the officials, and Welling, who will need a vast improvement if they are to get anything from their FA Cup tie at Dover next weekend.
Bromley crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Maidenhead in Blue Square South.
The visitors fell behind after seven minutes when Mark Nisbet netted the opening goal. Ten minutes after the restart Will Hendry added a second for the home side.
Two goals in the last five minutes from Daniel Brown and Alex Wall compounded the visitors’ misery.
Ian Jenkins was unable to celebrate his 10th anniversary in charge of Cray with a win after his side lost 2-1 at home to Waltham Abbey in the Ryman League Premier Division.
