Welling moved up to fourth in Blue Square Bet South with a comfortable home win over Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

A lethargic first half came to life with two goal of the season contenders.

The first, after 23 minutes, put Welling ahead as Jack Obestellar's cross was chested down and volleyed home from the edge of the box by Loick Pires.

Within a minute, however, Bishop's Stortford were level as Chris Arthur blazed home from 30 yards after cutting in from the left-hand side.

Former Welling winger Sanchez Ming found his way into the referee's notepad for a needless foul on Joe Healy on the stroke of half-time and it was a moment of madness that was to come back and haunt him.

Welling regained the lead 14 minutes into the second half when Andy Pugh's left-wing cross was expertly headed home by the onrushing Lee Clarke for his first goal of the campaign.

Substitute Loui Fazackerley nearly scored with his first touch but his volley from Jamie Coyle's cross was saved by the legs of keeper Bert Greenwood.

Sanchez saw red in the 69th minute when he went in late on Fazackerley and was given a second yellow card on the advice of the assistant referee.

Welling wrapped up the points 13 minutes from time when Pires sent Luis Cumbers (pictured above) clear and he rounded the keeper before tucking away his fifth goal of the season.

It could have been more late on as Jack Parkinson headed over from close range, while substitute Danny Morgan also missed a sitter for the visitors at the other end.
