Five goals inside the opening 25 minutes set Welling on their way to a 6-0 demolition of St Albans City in the Blue Square Bet Conference South at Park View Road on Saturday.
The Wings took the lead through Joe Healy, who capitalised on a defensive mistake to nip in for his first of the afternoon.
It took the home side just two minutes to double their lead when Healy's clever ball found Jack Obersteller in the box and the defender fired the ball past Paul Bastock for his first goal of the season.
With just a quarter of an hour gone, the Wings made it 3-0. Player-manager Jamie Day's (pictured) free kick found Healy at the back post, who duly headed into the back of the net.
There was no respite for St Albans, who conceded another goal in the 17th minute, although few - if any - goalkeeper would have stopped Andy Pugh's wonder strike. The striker flicked the ball over one of the Saints' back four before unleashing a stunning lob which flew over Bastock for 4-0.
Lee Clarke connected with Obersteller's free kick in the 24th minute to make it five and the Wings would have been 7-0 up at the end of a breathless first half, had Loick Pires and Pugh not both squandered good chances.
To their credit, the visitors looked a changed team in the second half, keeping Welling at bay until stoppage time, when Bastock missed an awkward back pass, leaving the grateful Luis Cumbers free to complete the rout.
