Welling boss Jamie Day has ruled out a summer move for his good friend Matt Bodkin.

The pair played together at Park View Road under Adrian Pennock and Bodkin, pictured, has been linked with a return. But he is under contract with Thurrock, where he enjoyed an excellent campaign, and Day is not expecting him to become available.

"I've spoken to Bods and the last I knew was that he had an option at Thurrock, and that is down to the club to take up," said Day.

"I'm interested if they don't take that up but I haven't heard anything since so I assume that they will take that option up."

Bodkin could have joined Welling last year but former manager Andy Ford declined to sign the winger and he subsequently moved to Thurrock.
