Delighted Welling manager Andy Ford has completed the signing of winger Ben Greenhaugh on a one-year deal.
The 17-year-old, who made his Wings debut in last season's Kent Senior Cup final triumph over Whitstable, put pen to paper following another bright display in the pre-season friendly against Charlton.
Greenhaugh, who plays down the left-wing, can also occupy a central midfield position or be used as a striker.
Ford (pictured) beamed: "Ben first came to my attention about six months ago. He did well in the cup final and I'm delighted to have signed him up this season.
"I saw him in the reserves a few weeks before the cup final and liked what I saw.
"He has done more sessions than anybody in pre-season. He is a cross country runner as well, he is fit and hungry to do well."
Greenhaugh was not the only player to impress against the Addicks with Ford also offering terms to former St Albans midfielder Dean Cracknell after the game.
Ford will now turn his attention to adding some depth to his defence with Graeme Andrews and Jack Parkinson the only recognised centre-backs in his squad.
"Centre-back is an area that I'm not quite happy with at the moment," admitted Ford.
"I haven't really replaced Tony Sinclair yet. I had four or five things lined up but they've all fallen by the wayside."
The Wings boss will take a further look at trialists in the friendly at VCD this Tuesday. Among those expected to feature are defender Justin Ferrera, midfielder Jason Mason, strikers Adam Marsh and Jake Hobbs, and keeper Ryan Burbridge.
