Welling rounded off a difficult week with a 2-0 victory over Woking in Blue Square Bet South at Park View Road on Saturday.
Having been deducted five points by the Conference on Thursday, due to their financial affairs, Jamie Day’s side responded in the best possible way on the pitch.
Wings keeper Charlie Mitten produced a good save to stop Moses Ademola breaking the deadlock, while Loui Fazakerley’s shot for Welling forced Woking number one Lennie Pidgely into a good save.
Other than those efforts, there were few chances in the first half, although the visitors were the better side going into the break.
The home side eventually took the lead after 55 minutes when Jamie Coyle’s throughball found Andy Pugh (pictured), who beat the offside trap as Woking’s back four pushed up, and he opened the scoring.
Loick Pires made sure of the points when he netted a quickly taken 25-yard free-kick to mark his first start of the season with a goal on 78 minutes.
The home side could have gone on to add further goals through Pires and Luis Cumbers.
