Welling turned on the style in the second half to defeat neighbours Bromley in Blue Square Bet South on Wednesday.

The visitors had the better of the first half but the Wings scored three goals in a 17-minute spell to boost their play-off chances.

Welling went close on 14 minutes when Andy Pugh's near-post header was cleared to safety while Warren McBean headed over at the other end.

Charlie Ide twice went close for Bromley before half-time, failing to connect properly on the first occasion and then sending his shot wide of the far post at the far post.

It took Welling just two second-half minutes before they went ahead. Jack Oberstellar's free-kick was headed in from close range by Lee Clarke.

Bromley had a glorious chance to equalise in the 56th minute when Andy Sambrook's wayward header let in Ide but he lifted his shot over stranded keeper John Whitehouse and the crossbar.

Loui Fazackerley made it 2-0 in the 59th minute when his free-kick evaded everyone and went straight in.

Pugh (pictured) was then denied a third just after the hour mark when his blistering 25-yard drive was met with a stunning one-handed save by keeper Craig Holloway.

But the Wings striker ended his barren run - stretching eight games since the middle of January - when he drilled home from the edge of the area after a neat lay-off by strike partner Luis Cumbers.

Bromley were handed a lifeline 15 minutes from time when substitute Liam Bellamy hauled down Harrison Dunk in the area and Harry Harding tucked away the spot-kick.

But Welling comfortably held on and will look to register a fourth successive win on Saturday when they travel to Bishop's Stortford.
