Welling manager Jamie Day is looking forward to hosting early Blue Square Bet South leaders Chelmsford on Tuesday.

The Wings, who are also unbeaten, entertain Chelmsford who have won three out of three so far.

Day (pictured) said: "They are a decent side but we've got nothing to fear.

"Hopefully they will make a game of it and not sit in (like Hampton did) and it should be a good game to watch.

"I believe in the squad that we've got but it's a big game on Tuesday as Chelmsford are flying."

Welling claimed their first win at title favourites Havant on Saturday and Day is delighted with the application his squad has shown to date.

"I was really pleased," he said. "We deserved the win at Havant in the end. They are going to be up there so it was a good result.

"We can't help what has happened off the pitch but on it, the players have shown tremendous team spirit and we need to keep that going.

"We can compete with the best teams in this league, we've got a decent 18-19 man squad that hopefully we can keep happy and keep for the whole season."

Welling's five goals have all come from different players this season and Day, who scored a stunning free-kick at Havant, knows that they need to contribute from all areas.

"That's it from me for the season!" he joked. "I've got to contribute goals as much as anyone else.

"We've got players around the side who can score and everyone has to take that responsibility, including me."

Dean Cracknell is due to have a scan on his injured knee this week while Loick Pires is one week away from a return and Lee Clarke is hoping to be back in contention in three weeks.
