Welling's players have been told to carry on as normal - despite a registration embargo being put on the club by the Football Conference.

Player/manager Jamie Day (pictured) is unable to add to his 18-man squad until the Wings reach an agreement over their winding-up petition, served by HMRC.

But joint-owner Barrie Hobbins is hopeful that budget cuts will not have to be put in place on the squad.

"I've spoken to Jamie and have told him to carry on as normal," said Mr Hobbins.

"The players know the situation and haven't come to me with any complaints. They are all on board and know their jobs.

"We will review it as we go but we need to get a positive answer first.

"The wages are catered for in the plan that I've put forward.

"We can't sign anyone but as soon as an agreement is put into place, not necessarily the full amount, then I imagine that the embargo is lifted."

Day is facing an injury crisis ahead of Tuesday's Blue Square Bet South trip to Dover with Loick Pires, Dean Cracknell (both knee) and Lee Clarke (fractured cheekbone) all ruled out.
