Welling have insisted that their finances will be in order this month - despite being hit with a second winding up petition.

The Wings, who were bailed out earlier this season when supporters lent them £64,000, need to pay a five-figure sum by May 18 having reached a formal agreement with HMRC.

A club statement said: "The broad outline of the agreement was that all VAT and PAYE liabilities arising in 2011 needed to be settled in full and on time and if this was the case then HMRC would not object to a winding up hearing (which had been listed as a result of a petition it had issued) being adjourned for 12 weeks.

"This petition related predominantly to PAYE liabilities becoming due between September and December of 2010 and which the Club had struggled to meet as a result of the unforeseeable run of postponed fixtures over the Christmas period.

"The adjournment date so agreed was 18 May 2011 and therefore in accordance with legal formalities HMRC are obliged to have published the serving of the Winding Up Petition, in advance of that hearing date, which we understand they will do later today.

"However, we wish to reassure the supporters that the Club has settled all of its 2011 liabilities and is close to having the necessary cleared funds in place to clear the balance due on 18 May 2011 and therefore we are confident (without being complacent) that we will be able to bring this matter to a successful and final conclusion."

Welling will be holding a meeting with supporters and lenders on Monday at the clubhouse, starting at 7.45pm, where co-owners Barrie (pictured) and Barry Hobbins will be able to answer any questions.
