Welling's immediate future has been secured after they appeared in the high court on Wednesday.

The Wings had been served with a winding-up order after owing HMRC nearly £90,000.

They made a payment of £30,000 following the pre-season matches with Charlton, Millwall and Arsenal and are believed to have made a further payment earlier this week in relation to their current tax bill.

They have now been given a further 14 weeks to pay off the debt.

In a statement, the club said: "We are pleased to confirm that the club’s solicitors, Leathes Prior, have confirmed to us that the winding up petition presented against the Club by HM Revenue and Customs, which was heard in the High Court of Justice, has been adjourned for a total of 14 weeks in order to give the club extra time in which to settle the remaining debt due to HM Revenue and Customs.

"The club will continue to pursue all avenues to raise the necessary finance to settle the petition debt within this timescale which will ensure the survival of the club."

Talks are believed to be ongoing with at least two potential investors while supporters have already raised more than £7,500 to help the club's cause.

The Wings are currently enjoying a great start to the season on the pitch with wins over Havant and Chelmsford putting them fourth in Blue Square Bet South.
