Frank Nouble ends his month-long loan at Gillingham this weekend but he’s not ready to leave.
The 20-year-old has started the last five games for the Gills, after joining on loan from West Ham, and he’s willing to extend his stay.
He said: "At the minute I am happy with the way things are going. It’s not a case of me saying I don’t want to be here, definitely not, I am enjoying my time here.
"Whether it (the loan) is extended or not, I am not sure. All I can look forward to is Torquay (this Saturday) and hopefully do really well there, get a win, and then be closer to the top of the table.
"The experience is really good and when I look back on my time here I know I will be happy because I have put everything into it. I would definitely stay – I am happy here."
Nouble has scored twice so far and the regular first team football is something he is thriving on.
"I just want to play and do well and the manager has already backed me by saying he wants me to stay," he said.
"You can’t go wrong if you have a manager that wants you to play. You just want to repay the favour.
"I don’t think there is a footballer out there who doesn’t want to be playing; other than Tevez. That’s about it.
"I am just enjoying it. I am young and I want to play.
"The team have taken to me and I think I am playing well. The manager has given me a lot of confidence and it’s just a case of showcasing what I can do, which I think I am doing, and it’s not far from home as well which is nice so it’s convenient for me.
"I am enjoying my football at the moment and I think you can tell that with the way I am playing."
With previous loan spells at West Brom, Swindon, Swansea, Barnsley and Charlton along with a handful of Premier League appearances at West Ham, the striker has experienced life in every division, and League 2 is certainly not something to be worried about.
"I don’t see any team we should be fearing as a group," he said.
"I am not facing a John Terry or a Rio Ferdinand week in, week out, so there is a chance to prove what I have got. Talk is cheap and I need to do it on the pitch.
"I had a volley (against Port Vale) in the first half that, if it had hit the target, I think it would have been a goal. There were a few other half-chances and we could have buried them but you can’t be too harsh on yourself.
"You have to look forward and hopefully I will get a goal in the next game."
