Traffic built up when a lorry overturned on the M2 Medway Bridge - shedding its load of meat.

The London-bound carriageway of the motorway was blocked after the crash at about 2.30pm.

The driver - a man aged around 25 - has been taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with what are described as minor injuries.

The truck overturned between J3 for the A229 (Blue Bell Hill) and J2 for the A228 (Strood).

It shed its load of meat across the carriageway and the crash also caused a fuel spillage.

All traffic was held while the emergency services were at the scene.

Kent Highways said two lanes of the four-carriage road were closed because of the accident.

Motorists were warned to expect delays, which began to clear after the lanes re-opened at about 3.30pm.
