Nicky Southall has challenged his players to "put themselves in the shop window" when Whitstable go to Dulwich Hamlet.

Hosts Hamlet are chasing the Ryman League Division 1 South title and in Daniel Carr they have a striker who has been on trial at Liverpool and rumoured to be interesting Arsenal and Chelsea.

Town need points as they battle relegation and are three games unbeaten after the 1-0 midweek victory over Merstham.

Boss Southall (pictured) believes a decent performance on Saturday would not only ease Town’s drop fears but also give his players the chance to show they can perform at a higher level.

He said: "Nobody expects us to get anything at Dulwich and they’re second for a reason. They’ve got class lads who are attracting interest from Premiership clubs.

"The scouts will be there and it’s a chance for our boys to put themselves in the shop window. You never know who’s watching.

"If our lads are outstanding, they could raise a few eyebrows."

Southall believes the likes of Jake Beecroft, Ollie Lee and Jake McKenzie are capable of moving on and insists they should be aiming to better themselves.

He said: "Everyone should want to play to the best of their ability. Don’t settle for this league."

Ollie Lee (side) is the main injury worry ahead of the Dulwich game, while Southall is monitoring a number of niggles.
