Mystery still surrounds a body washed up on the beach 13 years ago.
The unidentified man was found on the shingle at Sandgate on October 26, 1995.
At the time it was estimated that he had been dead at least six weeks before the tides dropped him in Sandgate.
Despite the time lag, one organisation is still trying to find out who he was.
The charity Missing People, which works with the police, coroners, hospitals and social services to resolve cases of unidentified people, has asked public to help identify the man.
He was described as white European and was aged between 20 and 35 years old. He was 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and had light brown hair. He was missing a lot of teeth.
When found, he was wearing a black turtle-neck jumper with a 10cm zip at the front and the words “Influence de Luxor, the authentic knitwear”, a pair of blue and white trainers with Velcro fastenings and a Sport Tech logo and a pair of white socks with two blue vertical stripes. He was also wearing a gold coloured chain, 52 cm in length, composed of alternating 1.5cm and 0.75cm twisted oval links.
Missing People has checked their records for clues as to a possible identity, but no conclusive match has been made. A facial reconstruction of the man was also produced in an attempt to solve the mystery of his identity, but as yet to no avail.
Teri Blythe, head of Missing People’s identification department, says: “In most cases an unidentified person is also a missing person, so it is likely that this man will have family and friends out there who do not know his fate.
“We therefore hope that this appeal will bring some vital clues that will lead us to identify this body and put an end to someone’s distress.”
