This striking black and white picture is from a 2009 calendar on sale to raise funds for the Save Dreamland Campaign and the Friends of Margate Shell Grotto.

Printed by Margate printer Thanet Press, the calendar features views of Dreamland amusement park and cinema as well as the grotto in years gone by. The picture above, of the park's Brooklands race track ride, was taken in 1949.

The calendar is priced at £6.50 each, plus £2.50 post and packing.

The idea started with a request from Thanet Press to journalist Nick Evans to borrow photos for its customer calendar from his large collection of Dreamland memorabilia,.

"I was happy to lend the pictures but wanted some benefit to come from the project and Thanet Press readily agreed to print 200 extra copies to help raise money for both of these worthy causes," said Nick.

"They have done a first class job and I’m sure the calendar will quickly become a collector’s item."
