Love was in the air – literally – when this romantic proposal was seen up in the sky above Medway.
The message, flown on an airplane banner, was heartfelt and simple: “Berta I love u will u marry me.”
The message was snapped by Medway Messenger photographer Barry Crayford in Priestfields, Rochester, on Sunday as it flew towards Gravesend.
The plane had been flown from Rochester Airport by the Thanet-based company AirAds. Simon Moores was the pilot and is the aerial advertising firm’s operations director.
He explained: “We flew the plane over the Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, where they were visiting.”
Ozzie Goztas, 25, of Enfield, North London, proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Berta Sarikay, 19.
He said: “I did it on her 19th birthday and I thought this would be a great way to propose.”
Berta said: “I knew nothing about it. He wouldn’t even tell me were he was taking me. It was a complete surprise. When I first saw the message I was in tears and was in shock for half an hour. I said yes, of course.”
