With his ankle repaired, Myles Weston is now fully focused on achieving a first league title of his career.

Weston doesn’t want to settle for second best as the Gills head into the Easter period sitting pretty at the top of League 2.

"Depending on how other results go, if we win our games, we could be promoted by Monday," said the 25-year-old forward.

"It is exciting times. I have never been promoted before and I have never won anything in my football career. It would be nice to do that and I don’t think we should just be settling for promotion either. We are top of the league and it’s in our hands."

Weston arrived in the summer from Brentford and has been a key player for the Gills this season but an ankle injury picked up in the game at home to Oxford a month ago, left him out for five games.

Weston said: "It felt good to get out there, especially at home as well. Our home form hasn’t been the best but going out there in front of our own fans is always nice. It was nice to get a win as well.

"It brings us that much closer to getting promoted and winning the league."
