The 53-year-old woman, from Rochester, suffered head and arm injuries when she was struck by an Audi car in City Way on Friday afternoon.

She was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, in Gillingham, where her condition had improved this week. She was described as being in a serious, but stable, condition on Tuesday.

The collision happened close to the Texaco garage at about 4.30pm.

The road was closed between Pattens Lane and Wilson Avenue after the incident until about 8.30pm.

Anyone with any information is asked to phone the Kent Police serious crash investigation unit on 01622 798538.
