Woman airlifted after three-car smash

A woman was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a three-car accident in east Kent this afternoon.

Firefighters cut her free from the wreckage shortly after the smash, on Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, at the junction with Bekesbourne Lane, at 1.10pm.

Police have sealed off the road, the A257, the major route between Canterbury and Sandwich.

Two children in another car were taken to hospital in Ashford with a bump to the head and painful jaw.

Two other men who had apparently been involved were still at the scene and appeared shaken, but unhurt.
