A WOMAN in her 30s and two police officers were injured in a crash in the centre of a Kent town this morning.

A marked police Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision in Bexleyheath with a Renault Megane driven by the woman.

It happened on the roundabout at the junction of Albion Road and Townley Road, outside the Broadway Shopping Centre, at about 8.15am.

Firefighters cut off the roof of the car to free the woman who suffered neck injuries. She was taken to Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

The two policemen, based at Greenwich, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich.

Traffic through the town centre ground to a halt as the dual carriageway was shut for several hours while crash investigators went to work. The road re-opened later in the morning.

The air ambulance attended the scene but did not take anyone to hospital.

The Metropolitan Police’s collision investigation unit, based at Catford, is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
